Holt Leisure’s Craobh Marina will be without one of its longest serving members of staff following the retirement of General Manager, Alistair Spence.

Alistair has been a seemingly ever-present figure around Craobh ever since he washed up on the Argyll shores following his career in the merchant navy, with the past 30 years representing Holt Leisure, and for some years prior to HLP’s custodianship of Craobh.

Throughout his time at Craobh, Alistair has seen many changes, with an expansion of the pontoons and berths, new offices, Chandlery, shore side facilities, hoist, slipway, crane, the addition of the holiday cottages, and the development of housing plots.

With his love for the practical elements of boats and boating, Alistair has always proved an invaluable source of wise advice and experience to both colleagues and Craobh customers alike and has passed on his depth of knowledge to many of the marina staff throughout his tenure.

A strong supporter and promoter of the Scottish sailing scene, his presence at the many regattas and sailing events held at Craobh will be missed, but hopefully he will now have more time to enjoy the events from a social side.

We all wish Alistair a long and very happy retirement and thank him for his service both to Craobh and its customers.
